I'm a full-time freelance writer who has published seven nonfiction books and hundreds of magazine articles on a wide range of topics.

My nonfiction books include Your Perfect Job: A guide to discovering your gifts, following your passions, and loving your work for the rest of your life (Shaw Books/Random House) and The Complete Idiot's Guide to Faith (Alpha Books/Penguin).  

Since 1985, my work has appeared in a variety of publications, including: Super Lawyers, The Chicago Tribune Magazine, USAirways’ Attaché, Preservation, Family Circle, PAGES, American Profile, Michigan Living, The Writer, and Writer’s Digest. I’ve contributed chapters to The Complete Campus Companion (IVP) and The ASJA Guide to Freelance Writing (St. Martin’s/Griffin), where I wrote about making the transition from part-time to full-time freelancing.

Over the last decade, my focus has shifted largely to trade-magazine writing. I’m a frequent contributor to print magazines for a wide range of industries and interests, including NAFCU Journal (National Association of Federally Insured Credit Unions), BoxScore (Association of Independent Corrugated Converters),  Compoundings (Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association), Destinations (American Bus Association), Mobility (Worldwide ERC), and Finseca Focus (Finseca, a financial-services association).

When I’m not writing for publication, I’m also a songwriter/musician who writes and records in my home studio. To date, I’ve released five full-length albums and one EP. All but one are available through a variety of online retailers, including iTunes, Amazon, and CDBaby, as well as all of the streaming services (Apple Music, Spotify, etc.).

In September-November 2023, my plan is to release six digital singles. So far, I’ve shared the original instrumental “Jarred’s Song,” “Too Far Gone” (a Lindsey Buckingham/ Christine McVie cover), a cover of Demi Lovato’s “Feed,” and my original song “She Loves Animals.”

I am a Supporting member of Horror Writers Association (HWA), a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), and a former board member and president of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA).
